Prayer for Friday (Yule)

Today is the Pagan/Wiccan holiday of Yule in the Northern Hemisphere and Litha in the Southern Hemisphere. Today also begins the Hopi & Zuni Soyala New Year Festival.

Say your truth—kindly, but fully and completely.
Live your truth, gently, but totally and consistently.
Change your truth easily and quickly
when your experience brings you new clarity.
~ Neale Donald Walsch, Conversations with God

Charge of the Goddess

Hear the words of the Star Goddess, the dust of whose feet are the hosts of heaven, whose body encircles the universe …

“I who am the beauty of the green Earth,
The white Moon among the Stars,
And the Mystery of the Waters,
I call upon your soul to arise and come unto Me.

For I am the Soul of Nature, which gives life to the universe.
From Me all things proceed,
And unto Me they must return.

Let My worship be in the heart that rejoices,
For behold – all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals.

Let there be beauty and strength,
Power and compassion,
Honour and humility,
Mirth and reverence within you.

And you who seek to know Me,
Know that your seeking and yearning will avail you not,
Unless you know the Mystery:

For if that which you seek you find not within yourself,
You will never find it without.

For behold, I have been with you from the beginning,
And I am that which is attained at the end of desire.”

(based on Gerald Gardener and Doreen Valiente)

We receive all your gifts with gratitude and joy.
Blessed Be.

Prayer for Thursday (Imbolc)

Today is the Pagan/Wiccan holiday of Imbolc (or Lammas if you live in the Southern Hemisphere.) It is also Candlemas for Christians and Triodion for Orthodox Christians.

Persephone, crocus in the snow,
light and life of somber Hades’ realm.
In the devotion of a mother and child,
in welcoming sorrow, in comforting grief,
in joy awakened, in sweet homecoming,
in these we know you, child of Demeter.
Persephone, queen of the underworld,
friend of those who mourn and those who are mourned,
bright jewel of the earth, fair flower of the field,
we thank you for hope, for patience, for faith,
for the longed-for return of great love.
Persephone, we praise and honor you.

Prayer for Thursday (Yule)

Yule is the Pagan/Wiccan holiday celebrating the Winter Solstice and the re-birth of the sun.

Great sun, wheel of fire, Ra in your glory,
hear me as I honor you
on this, the shortest day of the year.
Summer has gone, passed us by,
the fields are dead and cold,
all of earth sleeps in your absence.
Even in the darkest times,
you light the way for those who would need a beacon,
of hope, of brightness,
shining in the night.
Winter is here, and colder days coming,
the fields are bare and the livestock thin.
We light these candles in your honor,
that you might gather your strength
and bring life back to the world.
O Ra, mighty sun above us,
we ask you to return, to bring back to us
the light and the warmth of your fire.
Bring life back to earth,
Bring light back to earth.
Hail Ra! Ruler of the sun!

Prayer for Monday (Samhain)

This is the night when the gateway between our world and the spirit world is thinnest. Tonight is a night to call out those who came before.

Tonight I honor my ancestors.
Spirits of my fathers and mothers, I call to you,
and welcome you to join me for this night.
You watch over me always,
protecting and guiding me,
and tonight I thank you.
Your blood runs in my veins,
your spirit is in my heart,
your memories are in my soul.

[If you wish, you may want to recite your genealogy here.
This can include both your blood family, and your spiritual one.]

With the gift of remembrance.
I remember all of you.
You are dead but never forgotten,
and you live on within me,
and within those who are yet to come.

Prayer for Friday (Mabon)

The harvest is ending,
the earth is dying.
The cattle have come in from their fields.
We have the earth’s bounty
on the table before us
and for this we give thanks to the gods.

(Source: Paganism/Wicca)

In swirling cloak of crimson,
of burnt orange and saffron,
You ride the winds of morning.
The scent of burning leaves fills the air;
the Second Harvest draws near.
Solitary once again You embody balance –
You are an archetype of the Self –
consummate, remote.
I long to follow as You seek the
formless wilderness
with never a thought to the cost.
You are the bright flame of morning,
impelling and unrestrained.
Bless me with Your passion.”

(Galen Gillotte, Mabon Morning Prayer)

Today’s Affirmation:

“Prosperity within me, prosperity around me;
abundance within me, abundance around me.”

Prayer for Tuesday (Lughnasad)

Prayer to the Harvest Deities

The fields are full, the orchards blooming,
and the harvest has arrived.
Hail to the gods who watch over the land!
Hail to Ceres, goddess of the wheat!
Hail Mercury, fleet of foot!
Hail Pomona, and fruitful apples!
Hail Attis, who dies and is reborn!
Hail Demeter, bringing the dark of the year!
Hail Bacchus, who fills the goblets with wine!
We honor you all, in this time of harvest,
and set our tables with your bounty.

Lugh‚ Bright Protector of Many Skills
God of Communication and of Oaths
Grant me the strength to say what is true
To do what is right
To stay true to my vows
To myself
And to my Gods
