Prayer for Saturday

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
~ Leonardo da Vinci

To be human being is an honor,
and we offer thanksgiving for all the gifts of life.
Mother Earth, we thank you for giving us everything we need.

Thank you, deep blue waters around Mother Earth,
for you are the force that takes thirst away from all living things.
We give thanks to green grasses that feel so good against our bare feet,
for the cool beauty you bring to Mother Earth’s floor.

Thank you, good foods from Mother Earth,
our life sustainers, for making us happy when we are hungry.
Fruits and berries, we thank you for your color and sweetness.
We are all thankful to good medicine herbs, for healing us when we are sick…

All the trees in the world, we are thankful for the shade and warmth you give us…

We give thanks to you, gentle Four Winds,
for bringing clean air for us to breathe from four directions.

Thank you Grandfather Thunder Beings for bringing rains to help all living things grow.

Elder Brother Sun, we send thanks for shining your light and warming Mother Earth…

Spirit Protectors of our past and present,
we thank you for showing us ways to live in peace and harmony with one another.

And most of all, thank you, Great Spirit, for giving us all these wonderful gifts…

Prayer for Tuesday (Asalha Puja)

Today is Aslalha Puja, or Dharma Day, for Buddhists.

He does not believe
who does not live according to his belief.
~ Thomas Fuller

A Blessing Chant

Just as water flowing in the streams and rivers fills the ocean,
thus may all your moments of goodness touch and benefit all beings,
those here now and those gone before.

May all your wishes be soon fulfilled
as completely as the moon on a full moon night,
as successfully as from the Wish-Fulfilling Gem.
May all dangers be averted; may all disease leave you.

May no obstacles come across your way
and may you enjoy happiness and long life.

May those who are always respectful, honoring the way of the elders,
prosper in the four blessings of old age, beauty, happiness, and strength.

(From Teachings of The Buddha, edited by Jack Kornfield)

Prayer for Monday

It is easier to believe than to doubt.
~ E.D. Martin, The Meaning of a Liberal Education

O Thou compassionate Lord, Thou Who art generous and able! We are servants of Thine sheltered beneath Thy providence. Cast Thy glance of favor upon us. Give light to our eyes, hearing to our ears, and understanding and love to our hearts. Render our souls joyous and happy through Thy glad tidings. O Lord! Point out to us the pathway of Thy kingdom and resuscitate all of us through the breaths of the Holy Spirit. Bestow upon us life everlasting and confer upon us never-ending honor. Unify mankind and illumine the world of humanity. May we all follow Thy pathway, long for Thy good pleasure and seek the mysteries of Thy kingdom. O God! Unite us and connect our hearts with Thy indissoluble bond. Verily, Thou art the Giver, Thou art the Kind One and Thou art the Almighty.

Prayer for Sunday

I believe that there is an explanation for everything,
so, yes, I believe in miracles.
~ Robert Brault

Father God, I come to You seeking the depth of Your affirmation at the level for which it is intended. I avail to You, with the Holy Spirit’s help, the deep-seated dread and fear and anxiety that have pervaded my entire life. Envelope me with Your loving Presence. Name me as Your beloved. Clothe me with Your care, and drive out the doubt and despair wrought in me by sin and deprivation. Fill me instead with Your peace and Your love for me. Through Your Spirit in me, I take authority over fear, rebellion and self-pity, and turn from them. I also turn from my narcissism/self-hatred and renounce the image I have postured before others in order to be loved. That is false love, and I reject it. Replace it, Heavenly Father, with Your true love for me. I love You.

Prayer for Saturday

Feed your faith and your fears will starve to death.
~ Author Unknown

My knowledge that the great “I Am” is ever available gives me an increasing capacity to draw upon it and to become inwardly aware of the presence of Spirit.

Through the quiet contemplation of the omni-action of Spirit, I learn to look quietly and calmly upon every false condition, seeing through it to the other side of the invisible reality which molds conditions and recreates all of my affairs after a more nearly divine pattern.

With a penetrating spiritual vision I can dissipate the obstruction, remove the obstacle, and dissolve the wrong condition. Standing still, I can watch the sure salvation of the Law. I now claim health instead of sickness, wealth instead of poverty, happiness instead of misery.

Every thought of fear or limitation is removed from my consciousness. I know that my word transmutes every energy into constructive action, producing health, harmony, happiness, and success. I know there is something at the center of my being which is absolutely certain of itself. It has complete assurance that all is well. I maintain my position as a divine being here and now.

I know that in this consciousness of reality is the supply for my every need – physical, mental, or spiritual – and I accept that supply in deepest gratitude. I am thankful that this is the way Life fulfills my needs, through the doorway of my inner self, and I am thankful that I know how to use this perfect Law.

I come to this great Fountain of Supply, in the very center of my being, to absorb that for which I have need, mentally and physically, and I am filled with the sense of the reality of that which I desire. As I am filled with reality, I permit it to flow into my world of thought and action, knowing that it brings peace, harmony, and order all around me. There arises within me limitless faith in the unconquerable Presence, the perfect Law, and Divine Action. And so it is.

Prayer for Friday (Sts. Peter and Paul)

Faith is the substance of things hoped for;
the evidence of things not seen.
~ Saint Paul (Hebrews 11:1)

I kneel before the Father, from Whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that He may grant you in accord with the riches of His glory to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner self, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the holy ones what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Prayer for Thursday

Faith is believing in things
when common sense tells you not to.
~ George Seaton

May He Who is the Father in Heaven of the Christians,
Holy One of the Jews,
Allah of the Muhammadans,
Buddha of the Buddhists,
Tao of the Chinese,
Ahura Mazda of the Zoroastrians
and Brahman of the Hindus
lead us from the unreal to the Real,
from darkness to light,
from disease and death to immortality.

May the All-Loving Being manifest Himself unto us,
and grant us abiding understanding
and all-consuming divine love.

Peace, Peace. Peace be unto all.
