Prayer for Monday (Ashura)

Ashura is a holy day for Muslims. It commemorates when Noah left the Ark and when Moses was saved from the Egyptians by Allah (God). For Shi’a Muslims it is also a solemn commemoration of the martyrdom of Hussein, Muhammad’s grandson.

God is Great!

Sura Al-Fatiha
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful:
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all that exists.
The Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
Master of the Day of Judgment.
You alone do we worship, and You alone do we ask for help
Guide us on the straight path;
The path of those on whom You have bestowed your favor,
not of those who have earned Your anger, nor of those who go astray.

Sura Al-Ikhlas
He is Allah, the One!
Allah, the eternally Besought of all!
He begetteth not nor was begotten.
And there is none comparable unto Him.

Sura Al-Falaq
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the Daybreak
From the evil of that which He created;
From the evil of the darkness when it is intense,
And from the evil of malignant witchcraft,
And from the evil of the envier when he envieth.

Sura Al-Naas
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
The King of mankind,
The God of mankind,
From the evil of the sneaking whisperer,
Who whispereth in the hearts of mankind,
Of the Jinn and of mankind.

Tashahhud
All compliments, prayers and pure words are due to Allah.
Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
Peace be upon us, and on the righteous slaves of Allah.
I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah,
and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Salaam
Peace be upon you.
