Prayer for Friday (Parinirvana)

Today is Parinirvana, or Nirvana Day, for most Buddhists. For Hindus, today is the festival of Vasant Panchami, honoring the Goddess Saraswati. Today is also the start of the Mid-Winter Ceremonies for the tribes of the Iroquois Nation.

Nothing you do for children is ever wasted.
~ Garrison Keillor, Leaving Home

As soon as you wake up in the morning, see your palm and recite:

Lakshmi lives in the tip of my palm,
Saraswathi lives in its middle,
And Gowri lives at its base,
So I see my palm in the early morning.
