Prayer for Friday (Simchat Torah)

The Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah started at sundown yesterday.

Praise the One to whom our praise is due!
Praised be the One to whom our praise is due, now and for ever!
Blessed are You, L-RD our G-d, king of the universe, who chose us from all the peoples and gave to us His Torah. Blessed are You, L-RD, giver of the Torah.
(traditional blessing said before reading the Torah*)

Blessed are You, L-RD our G-d, king of the universe, who gave us the Torah of truth and set everlasting life in our midst. Blessed are You, L-RD, giver of the Torah.
(traditional blessing said after reading the Torah*)

*The Torah is the first five books of the Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.)
