Prayer for Thursday (Muharram)

Today is Muharram, the Muslim New Year. Today is also Bhaiya Dooj, the fifth and final day of the Hindu festival of Diwali, and the time of the Buffalo Dance for the Tewa peoples in southwestern U.S.

The measure of your life will not be in what you accumulate,
but in what you give away.
~ Wayne Dyer

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

(Muslim Dua for Prosperity)

And if My servants ask you, O Prophet, concerning Me, tell them that I am quite near to them. I hear and answer the prayer of the suppliant, when he calls on Me. So let them respond to My call and believe in Me. (Convey this to them), perhaps they may be guided aright!
~ Qur’an, Surah Baqarah 2:186

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart,

~ Kahlil Gibran

From the earth did We create you,
and into it shall We return you,
and from it shall We bring you out once again.
~ Qur’an 20:55 (Surah Ta-Ha)

O Allah, ease upon him his matters,
and make light for him whatever comes hereafter,
and honor him with Your meeting
and make that which he has gone to better than that which he came out from.
