Prayer for Saturday (Mabon)

Today is the Pagan/Wiccan holiday of Mabon (Fall Equinox) in the Northern Hemisphere, and Ostara (Spring Equinox) in the Southern Hemisphere.

Letting go gives us freedom,
and freedom is the only condition for happiness.
~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Mother of All,
I thank you for all the blessings I have received.
I thank you for each moment of my existence.
Help me to focus on this day, this moment,
and not dwell on the past,
which is gone and cannot be changed;
or on the future,
which will come in its own time.
May I always be present and centered in the moment
experiencing fully the Now
and all the beauty and joy it can bring.
And so it is.
Amen.

Prayer for Friday

Breathe. Let go.
And remind yourself that this very moment
is the only one you know you have for sure.
~ Oprah Winfrey

Father,
I abandon myself into your hands;
do with me what you will.
Whatever you may do, I thank you:
I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only your will be done in me,
and in all your creatures.
I wish no more than this, O Lord.

Into your hands I commend my soul;
I offer it to you
with all the love of my heart,
for I love you, Lord,
and so need to give myself,
to surrender myself into your hands,
without reserve,
and with boundless confidence,
for you are my Father.

Prayer for Thursday

You cannot let go of anything
if you cannot notice that you are holding it.
Admit your ‘weaknesses’
and watch them morph into your greatest strengths.
~ Neale Donald Walsch

Dear God,
I am so afraid to open my clenched fists!
Who will I be when I have nothing left to hold on to?
Who will I be when I stand before you with empty hands?
Please help me to gradually open my hands
and to discover that I am not what I own,
but what you want to give me.
And what you want to give me is love—
unconditional, everlasting love.
Amen.

Prayer for Wednesday (Ganesh Chaturthi)

Today is the Hindu festival of Ganesh Chaturti.

When you accept the fact you have no control
and choose not to take any action,
you are letting go.
~ Darren L. Johnson

The Way never does anything,
and everything gets done.
If those in power could hold to the Way,
the ten thousand things
would look after themselves.
If even so they tried to act,
I’d quiet them with the nameless,
the natural.

In the unnamed, in the unshaven,
is not wanting.
In not wanting is stillness.
In stillness all under heaven rests.

(Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching)

Prayer for Tuesday (Rosh Hashanah)

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year celebration, ends today at sunset.

When I let go of what I am,
I become what I might be.
When I let go of what I have,
I receive what I need.

PETTINESS PRAYER

The Pettiness Prayer is in the public domain, and is used in many 12 step programs

Keep us, oh God, from pettiness.
Let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.
Let us be done with fault finding & leave off self-seeking.
May we put away all pettiness & meet each other face to face,
without self-pity & without prejudice.

May we always be patient,
never hasty in judgement & always tolerant.
Teach us to put into action our better impulses,
straightforward & unafraid.

Let us take time for all things; make us calm, serene & gentle.
Grant that we may realize it is the little things
in life that create differences,
That in the big things of life we are as one and
may we strive to touch and to know the great common heart of us all.

And oh God, let us not forget to be kind.

Prayer for Monday (Rosh Hoshanah)

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year celebration, continues today.

We must be willing to let go of the life we planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.
~ Joseph Campbell

Dear God, help me to resolve any and all unresolved issues from the past and let go of any hurt, anger, grief, fears, and resentment so I won’t take these things out on others, and so I will be free to fully live and fully love. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Your name.
Amen.

Prayer for Sunday (Rosh Hoshanah)

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year celebration, begins at sundown today.

Without freedom from the past,
there is no freedom at all,
because the mind is never new, fresh, innocent.
~ Jiddu Krishnamurti

Father Mother God,
Help me to let go of the past.
Help me to release the resentments, pain, disappointments, and regrets
of the things I have done
or not done.
Help me to release the resentments and emotional attachments
of the things others have done
or not done.
Keep me in the present
and to not worry about the future.
And so it is.
