Prayer for Friday (Posadas Navidenas)

Posadas Navidenas is a Hispanic Christian tradition that commemorates the travel to Bethlehem and search for lodging of Mary and Joseph. It lasts for 9 days from the 16th until the 24th (Christmas Eve.)

My Queen, My Mother, I offer
myself entirely to Thee.

And to show my devotion to Thee,
I offer Thee this day, my eyes,
my ears, my mouth, my heart,
my whole being without reserve.

Wherefore, good Mother, as I am thine own, keep me,
guard me as Thy property and possession.
Amen

(traditional Catholic prayer to Mary)

Prayer for Wednesday (Feast of St. Andrew)

Today is the Christian Feast of Saint Andrew, believed to be the first Apostle of Jesus. Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, Ukraine, Russia, Romania, Prussia and of the Order of the Golden Fleece.

O my God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good,
I have sinned against You, Whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with Your help, to do penance, to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.
Amen

(a Catholic Act of Contrition prayer)

Today’s Affirmation:

“I forgive myself for being imperfect like everybody else.”

Prayer for Wednesday (All Souls Day / Day of the Dead)

All Souls Day is a Roman Catholic observance devoted to prayer and remembrance for friends and loved ones who have passed.

Merciful Father,
hear our prayer and console us.
As we renew our faith in Your Son,
whom You raised from the dead,
strengthen our hope
that all our departed brothers and sisters
will share in His resurrection,
who lives and reigns
with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen

(Catholic Collect from the Mass for the Dead)

Eternal Rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace.

(Requiem Aeternam)

Today’s Affirmation:
